It seems that things did not go as well during the move as previously thought. If you've submitted a story since the move, it didn't go through, and you'll need to submit again. I really apologize for this! I did not know that this was a site-wide problem until this afternoon. Thank you to the people who emailed and mentioned this on the forums. It seems that updating has corrected the problem.
After you resubmit, please comment here or email me, and I'll give your submission priority. :)
The server move went well. I've fixed a few problems caused by the move. Please let me know if you encounter any other issues.
P.S. If you are the person or persons who registered yesterday, you'll need to register again. I had to reupload the database. Thanks!
I forgot to mention this in my last update, but it's just as well because it such big news it deserves its own entry. The new submissions policy is up. The highlight is that I've added not one, but two new cagetories. We will now accept the following types of fics:
- Fics that explore the Snape/Lily friendship. We know from canon that they were never in a romantic relationship, so we won't accept fics in which they are involved romantically, but fics that explore the possibility are ok. (Aside: If you know me and my feelings towards Snape, particularly his greasy hair, you know what a big step this is. ;) )
- Fics that feature the "Epilogue Kids". Who are they, you ask? They are the children of canon characters introduced in the epilogue, namely, Teddy Lupin; Victoire Weasley; James, Albus, and Lily Potter; Hugo and Rose Weasley; and Scorpius Malfoy. So now we can turn our Timeturners backwards as well as forwards!
I've decided to to a little housekeeping before I open the site back up for submissions. I'm revamping the characters section, as well as adding a few need characters and characters for new categories. This is a lot more work than it sounds like because it requires editing all the stories. But it will make the character and search functions more ...functional so it will be a welcome change.
I will also be working on a new theme for the forums that will better integrate the forums with the archives. This will make the site easier to navigate.
These changes should be done by the end of the week. I'm very sorry for the delay, but these changes are much-needed.
Hello everyone! I hope you enjoyed the book. This is just a reminder that submissions will be closed for a few weeks (until August 18), not only to allow us to recover from the book and gather our fanfic ideas, but because I'm moving next weekend, and I will be very busy packing and then unpacking.
However, when the archive reopens, there will be a special surprise for you. A new category for Snape/Lily friendship fics. Note the emphasis on friendship -- even though Snape had unrequited feelings for Lily, the two never seem to have shared anything more and I want this to remain a canon-based archive.
I look forward to reading all your new ideas. :)
The site has been updated to the latest versions of eFiction and SMF. I don't expecty any problems, but please let me know if you encounter any.
The upgrade should fix some bugs in the validation feature (which is why you may not have heard back from us if you have a story in the queue). I will be clearing out the queue this week. On Sunday, July 15th, the archive will close for new submissions and reopen Sunday, August 19th. This will give us all time to enjoy Deathly Hallows. :)
...of the rest of your life. And also the first day of Timeturner.net's fourth year. Yesterday was the last day of Timeturner.net's third year. Happy Birthday Timeturner.net! (If you are wondering why I didn't mention this yesterday, it is because I wanted to make this cleverly worded, however slightly confusing, Happy Birthday post. Or I forgot, but I'll never tell which. ;) )
Thanks everyone for making this site such a great place to read MWPP fics! *passes out cake*
The forums are functional again. :) I've upgraded them to the latest version of SMF and bridged them with the archives. This means that registration, login, and logout are linked on both parts of the site. If you register for one, you register for both. I've copied the efiction members over to the forums as well. In order to do this and still keep all the old posts, I had to strip away the all the member information excepting poster name. Also, the dates didn't transfer over very well, so most everyone registered on December 31, 1969. I don't know why it picked that date, and I know, you probably weren't born then...
Please let me know if you notice any unusual behavior. Hopefully this is the last time I'll have to say this for a while, but thanks again for your patience. :)
I have turned submissions back on. I'm not sure if they will work for everyone--there are still a few bugs due to the server/software upgrade. If you have problems, please contact me or leave a comment. This is very important. Don't assume someone else already has, then wait for the problem to be resolved. Please send me the following information: browser, connection speed, were you using tinyMCE, and length of story. This information from anyone who is having trouble will help us pinpoint the problem. Thanks!
P.S. I know the forums are broken, but it will take a bit of work to get them going again so it might be a week before I can get to them.
ETA: OK, so apparently there is a bug in the news comments. So if you have problems, email me.
I've fixed a few outstanding issues with the software upgrade. I re-added all the old feature stories. If you think one is still missing, let me know and I'll double-check.
Also, as far as I know, the server upgrade and move planned by my host is still in process. That's why submissions are still closed. I'll keep you posted when I learn more.
Due to some server upgrades that are taking place this weekend and early next week, submissions will be closed for a short period. Also, there may be some problems with other functions as well. We are moving to a new server, and everything has to propagate. This means some information, such as new reviews, favorites, etc. may be lost, so you may want to hold of on adding reviews for favorites, etc. until the middle of next week when everything should be working.
Additionally, the site will probably experience down time for a period of 12 or more hours in the next week.
As always, thank you for your patience. Once this is done and all the bugs worked out, the site should once again be running smoothly.
The site has been updated and upgraded. There are lots of new features, a few of which are listed below:
- New design- the design of the site has quite obviously been changed. Right now, there is only one design, but others are in the works. Look for them soon, though I can't say how soon. (The skin is bright and colorful. If you don't see anything but black and white, the log into your account and change your default skin. Or use this link.)
- Have a cookie - choose "remember me" when logging in, and you'll feel special when you return.
- Rich text editor - you have to turn this one on in your preferences by choosing "Use TinyMCE WYSWYG editor". Enables you to format stories without html.
- Email notifications of favorites - again, select this in your preferences.
- Co-authors and multiple categories
- Series - group stories into series. Kind of like J.K. Rowling has done with the Harry Potter series. ;)
- Browse - new and varied ways to browse through stories.
- Top Tens- lists galore.
- Authors vs Members - narrow your search.
- Story notes, chapter notes - Chapter notes are like summaries, but you can pretty much notate anything anywhere.
